Take the chill off winter with a warm adult beverage at the pop-up Cozy Cocktail Chalet inside the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel lobby in uptown Charlotte. This comes as Merchant & Trade goes through a rooftop renovation. On the menu you’ll find drinks like the Chocolate Pretzel Hot Chocolate and Apple Cinnamon Cider (alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions are available). Hours are Wed.-Thurs., 3-10 p.m. and Fri.-Sat., 4-11 p.m.

Legion Brewing SouthPark‘s running club put out a reminder on Instagram about the program. With so many running clubs popping up around town, odds are, there’s one near you. Here’s our story on why they’re getting traction and where to find one.

As Discovery Place Nature (alongside Freedom Park) plans to close for a major overhaul which includes construction of a new facility, free tickets are being offered January 17- 31 to let folks say farewell to the 1951 building. Note: you’ll need to reserve tickets online before you go.

The new facility will feature a North American River Otter habitat, naturalist lab, expansive animal collection representing species native to the Piedmont and a treetop canopy walk. Park-goers will also notice easier access to the new Discovery Place Nature with public gardens and community spaces available to all.

If you’re cleaning out, head to Levine Museum uptown to donate gently used paperbacks through January 31. They’ll be given to Prison Books Collective, a program that helps incarcerated people in N.C. and Alabama. The organization also has a shopping list from which books can be ordered to donate.
