A VALENTINE’S STROLL

Love is in the air and right before our eyes. The Lovers Art Trail from Art Walks CLT features Evelyn Henson‘s whimsical hearts in South End and several more Charlotte murals inspired by love. It’s a nice outing for Valentine’s Day or any time of year. The trail is self-guided, so you can see murals at your own pace. Note: tickets for the guided Lovers Art Walk are sold out.

Art Walk CLT makes it easy to find and learn about murals and street art across the city. The free, self-guided trails are organized by theme or neighborhood, and include information about each artist. Look for new events throughout the year.

RESTAURANT NEWS

Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay created some buzz in SouthPark this week with the announcement that he’s opening a restaurant. Flay is teaming up with local restaurateur Frank Scibelli on the project. Look for Bobby’s Burgers by Bobby Flay to open this spring in The Towers at SouthPark, a two-building office complex (also home to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse). The new restaurant will double as Flay’s test kitchen, where he will personally craft new recipes.

The fast-casual restaurant has a menu that features made-to-order Angus beef hamburgers with the option to Crunchify (add potato chips), a term coined by Flay. Other menu options include a hand-battered fried chicken sandwich and a veggie burger using a winning recipe from the “Beat Bobby Flay” TV show. Expect sides like buttermilk onion rings, sweet potato fries and bacon cheese fries, too. 6000 Fairview Rd.

After three decades, Zepeddie’s Pizzeria is coming back. Originally opened by the Zepsa family in 1994, the pizzeria became a neighborhood spot known for New York-style pizza. Zepsa Construction plans to retain the World War II-era character of the building and install the original Zepeddie’s Pizzeria sign. A spring opening is planned. 4516 Nations Crossing Rd.

A ROMANTIC STAYCATION

A room at The Ivey’s Hotel from Forbes Travel Guide

The Ivey’s Hotel in uptown has earned Forbes Travel Guide’s Four-Star award. The guide notes how the luxury hotel “exudes a Paris-meets-Southern-charm aesthetic” with an array of French art, numerous chandeliers and fanciful ironwork details. The building opened its doors in 1924 as Ivey’s department store. The hotel also has a lovely offer for guests staying during the month of February. 127 N. Tryon St.
