3 local farms to pick strawberries near Charlotte

It’s strawberry season — the berries are ripe for picking and local farms have plenty of specials activities planned. Here are 3 nearby farms where you can pick-your-own strawberries around Charlotte.
Carrigan Farms
U-pick season at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville started mid-April. The farm also sells pre-picked strawberries and other seasonal produce.
Reservations: Not required, but plan to visit on weekdays to avoid crowds.
Cost: $8 per quart or $22 for a 4-quart basket.
Beyond strawberry season: Open swim at the Carrigan Farms quarry begins mid-May and is available all summer. Apple picking begins in September. The pumpkin patch and haunted trail are open in October.
Wise Acres Organic Farm
Indian Trail’s Wise Acres Organic Farm is open for strawberry picking through early June.
Reservations: Reservations are required. A few last-minute slots may still be available in April, and May reservations open April 29.
Cost: Admission is $2 per person, and strawberries are $3.79/pound. A weekend Pizza & Picking package costs $41 and includes 2 pizzas + 2 small boxes for u-pick berries, plus $3 per person admission. Fresh-cut flowers, slushies and other goods are also for sale.
Beyond strawberry season: Summer blueberry & sunflower season is June through early July. Summer camp days are also available. Fall pumpkin season is mid-September through early November. U-cut flowers are available every season.
The Hunter Farm
The Hunter Farm in Weddington will have strawberry picking through the end of May. The farm also has wagon rides, a petting barn and a garden shop selling flowers and plants during strawberry picking season.
Reservations: Spots are released each Monday.
Cost: Reservations for access to the strawberry field are $5, and strawberries are $4.19 a pound.
Beyond strawberry season: The farm also offers summer camps. During the fall, Hunter Farm is known for its pumpkin patch, wagon rides and petting barn. During the winter, pick out a Christmas tree, take a wagon ride and enjoy a warm beverage by the fire.
