Where to pick strawberries near Charlotte

It’s almost strawberry season in the Carolinas and local farms are ready to help us celebrate these first fruits of summer. Here’s where you can pick-your-own strawberries near Charlotte. Peak season in 2025 is expected late April, early May.

Carrigan Farms

U-pick season at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville starts April 24. The farm also sells pre-picked strawberries and other seasonal produce, including asparagus.

Reservations: Not required, but plan to visit on weekdays to avoid crowds.
Cost: $22 for a 4-quart basket of U-pick berries, $24 for pre-picked, $8 for 1-quart either U-pick or pre-picked
Beyond strawberry season: This 5th generation family-owned farm has activities throughout the year. Open swim at the Carrigan Farms quarry begins mid-May and is available all summer. Apple picking begins in September. The pumpkin patch and haunted trail are open in October.

Wise Acres Organic Farm

Indian Trail’s Wise Acres Organic Farm anticipates this year’s opening for strawberry picking on April 19, with reservations opening up on April 7. The farm includes a shaded playground, animal visits, u-cut flowers and rides for the kids.

Reservations: Reservations are required. Slots fill up quickly with new sign-ups being offered weekly based on the crop. Reservations for May open up April 29, which includes Mother’s Day activities.
Cost: Admission is $2 per person for strawberry picking. Strawberries are $4.09/pound. Opening day for Wise Pie pizza is April 26, with weekend packages available for strawberry picking and pizza. Fresh-cut flowers, slushies and other goods are also for sale inside the red barn.
Beyond strawberry season: Summer blueberry & sunflower season is June through early July. Fall pumpkin season is mid-September through early November. Christmas tree season is late November. U-cut flowers are available every season, spring through fall.

The Hunter Farm

The Hunter Farm in Weddington is also a favorite destination for strawberry picking but this season will be different. The Hunter Farm will not have strawberry picking in 2025 so that the fields can rest. Strawberry picking will resume in 2026.

Even though there’s no strawberry picking this year, spring season at the farm begins on April 11 with Farm Fridays. Visitors can enjoy wagon rides, a petting barn and a locally-sourced goods (including farm-fresh eggs and honey) at the garden shop.

Reservations: Wagon ride reservations must be made in advance.
Cost: Parking is $10
Beyond spring season: The farm also offers summer camps. During the fall, Hunter Farm is known for its pumpkin patch, wagon rides and petting barn. During the winter, pick out a Christmas tree, take a wagon ride and enjoy a warm beverage by the fire.

Cherry Place Farm

Strawberry picking runs from mid-April through early June at Cherry Place Farm in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The farm also sells pre-picked gallons and half-gallons when available. Guests can also feed the farm animals (chickens, goats, sheep, cows and a donkey), and the farm sells canned salsas, jams and syrups.

Reservations: Not required, but check social media before visiting as hours can vary due to weather and availability.
Cost: $4 per pound, plus a 3% transaction fee for using a credit card. When pre-picked berries are available, the cost is $22/gallon or $13/half-gallon.
Beyond strawberry season: The farm has been owned by the Westbrook family since 1940. Produce and cut flowers are available in the summer, there’s a pumpkin patch and corn maze in October, and the farm sells Christmas trees during the holidays.

Springs Farm

Springs Farm in Fort Mill has been providing local produce since 1938, and is especially known for its peach crop. Open Friday-Sunday during strawberry season.

Reservations: No reservations, first come, first served.
Cost:
Pick-your-own price is $4.49/pound. A gallon container costs around $26.94. Please note our the pick-your-own stand is credit card only.
Beyond strawberry season:
Visit Springs Farm Market for fresh produce, baked goods, jarred items, homemade dessert mixes and savory starters, boiled peanuts, and our famous homemade soft serve ice cream. The Old Peach Stand operates each summer when peaches start their season. Springs Farm also sells CSA boxes of produce.
