Whether rushing to eat between two rounds of golf or relaxing over a meal at the end of the day, Pinehurst Resort Executive Chef Thierry Debailleul’s goal is the same: make it unforgettable. “Cooking is not an act of simply feeding someone,” he says. “It should be about creating an experience.”

Here, “Chef T” gives visitors an inside look on how each day is different at Pinehurst. It’s the latest in the resort’s A Day in Pinehurst series, which showcases some of the stories and people that make Pinehurst so special.

A Day in Pinehurst

Debailleul has been executive chef at Pinehurst for 14 years and brings over 20 years of experience to the culinary team. In addition to overseeing the menus at the resort’s various dining establishments, including the Carolina Dining Room, 1895 Grille and The Deuce, Chef T may find himself cooking outdoors over an open fire or for hundreds of guests at an off-site gala. “As a resort chef, you have to be able to do everything,” he says. “It’s still a job that amazes me.”
