Charlotte natives Camille and Ben met at Providence Day School and started dating in 10th grade, after Camille asked Ben to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Ten years later, they married at Camille’s longtime church, Dilworth United Methodist. Their reception was at Carmel Country Club, a place special to Ben, an avid golfer and former player at UNC Greensboro.
“Our vision while planning the wedding was to have a joyful day filled with our loved ones at two venues in Charlotte that mean a lot to our families,” Camille says. As they began the process, wedding planner Sarah Beth Thie suggested the couple come up with key words for the celebration. “The words we selected were classic, creative with a twist, joyful and laughter-filled. I think these words shined through on our wedding day, along with lots and lots of happy tears.”
For her something old, new and borrowed, Camille wore a pearl bracelet made from her grandmother’s necklace (a surprise from her mom) and Ben’s great-grandmother’s ring (Ben’s mom also wore it on her wedding day). A locket with a blue flower and a photo of Camille and her grandmother inside — a gift from her aunt passed down several generations — was attached to the wedding bouquet for her something blue. “Family is very important to us, so these items were really special and grounding to me on our wedding day,” Camille says.
