Emma Grace & Blake Krause
9.7.24
The first time Blake played golf with his future father-in-law at Myers Park Country Club, he hit a hole in one, celebrating with a round of Ranch Water — a nod to his Texas roots. Fast forward a few years later, and he and bride Emma Grace found themselves back at the lucky venue, toasting to a lifetime of happiness.
“It was a dream come true,” says Emma Grace, who grew up in Charlotte and wanted an outdoor reception. “The golf course looked so beautiful in the background and the tent was so fun.” Planner Katrina Hutchins brought Emma Grace’s passion for pink and a beachy, colorful vibe to life at the reception. Striking rattan light fixtures, a bamboo-patterned dance floor and a tent trimmed with a pink-and-white dentil-molding valance added touches of whimsy.
The celebration kicked off with a music-themed welcome party at Charlotte Country Club. Blake, an employee benefits broker, plays in a band in the couple’s home of Dallas. Instead of a traditional bridesmaids’ luncheon, Emma Grace and the bridal party hit the pickleball courts, enjoying some friendly competition, mimosas and light bites. “It was exactly what I needed the day before getting married,” she says. “It was great to be moving around and having a great time with my best friends.”
The couple, who met during Emma Grace’s senior year of college, chose buffet-style stations for their reception and a few curated dishes to reflect their style: a “Low Country Boil and Grits” served in martini glasses for the beach wedding they once considered and “Javier’s One Bite Nachos,” a salute to a favorite Dallas restaurant.
During the reception, Emma Grace wore her mom’s shortened, revamped wedding gown and guests sipped on a few of her dad Lamar’s specialty drinks he often serves up at home at “Bar Lamar.” Hats for Blake’s alma mater, the University of Georgia, and Emma Grace’s, the University of Alabama, made for a spirited dance floor. Before saying their goodbyes, the couple celebrated with one last toast — an espresso martini shooter to “cap off the perfect night.”
