SouthPark Magazine receives N.C. Press Association awards
September 20, 2024
It’s awards season, that time of year when associations and organized groups of industry bestow accolades upon those doing a good job representing a certain line of business. SouthPark Magazine, along with dozens of local and statewide publications, is a member of the North Carolina Press Association, which announced awards during its annual convention in Raleigh in September.
Since 1873 NCPA has supported North Carolina newspapers, readership and advertising. It works to protect the public’s right to know through the defense of First Amendment freedoms and supporting access to local, state and federal governments.
Our work at SouthPark Magazine received awards in several categories: General Excellence (2nd Place); Editorial – Photo Page or Essay (1st and 2nd Places); Editorial – Sports Feature Writing (2nd Place).
“I’m very proud of our SouthPark team, but I’m not surprised at the recognition as I see the dedication they put into the magazine every day. These awards are a testament to that hard work,” Publisher Ben Kinney says. Kinney and Editor Cathy Martin have led the magazine since 2019, when it was bought by The Pilot, LLC, which owns several magazines across North Carolina.
