UPDATE: Listing agent Victoria Speer says McCaffrey’s condo went under contract within two days of announcing it as a “coming soon” property.

Former Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey has set a lot of records in his NFL career. Now he hopes to set another record with the sale of his uptown penthouse.

McCaffrey spent nearly six years with the Panthers before being traded to the San Franciso 49ers midway through the season last year.

If his Skye Condominiums penthouse sells for close to the asking price of $3,750,000, it will be the most expensive condo ever sold in Charlotte on a per-square-foot basis, according to listing agent Victoria Speer of Ivester Jackson Christie’s International Real Estate.

The 3-bedroom, 3.5-bath, two-story penthouse has 3,813 square-feet of indoor living area plus a large terrace and patio. The great room offers sweeping uptown views with 25-foot ceilings. Other highlights include a chef’s kitchen and oversized dining island, plus a glass and steel architectural staircase leading to the second floor. The main-floor hallway features a barrel ceiling and a custom mural by Tampa-based artist, Michael Vahl, which depicts real-life and fictional characters that have inspired McCaffrey throughout his life.

Dual owners’ suites – one on the main level and one on the second level – have large walk-in closets with custom organizers. The marble-clad primary bath has an oversized shower with a rain head and a freestanding soaking tub, and the upstairs bath also includes a large shower with a rain head and built-in bench, as well as a separate tub.

McCaffrey’s partner, model Olivia Culpo, occasionally shared photos with the condo as a backdrop to her five million followers on Instagram. The couple relocated to California immediately upon McCaffrey’s trade.

The new owner will have access to several luxury amenities at the high rise, including a rooftop pool, fitness center, 24-hour concierge, theatre room, game room, club room, and Fahrenheit, the rooftop fine-dining restaurant from chef Rocco Whalen.

Besides the Instagram fame, the new buyer will also have this nice little story to share: the penthouse is located on the 22nd floor and has a street address of 222 S. Caldwell Street. McCaffrey’s jersey number with the Panthers was, you guessed it, 22.

“To me, this penthouse was more than a home. It allowed me to feel a part of the city that I love so much every time I look out the window,” said McCaffrey. “It’s a home with so much character, and I’m so excited to pass along such an amazing home to the next owner.”

The home is outfitted with furniture by Restoration Hardware, which is included in the list price, along with two parking spaces.
